Shannow Family Resource Centre (FRC) is one of 121 FRCs nationwide, funded under the Family and Community Services Resource Programme and the Child and Family Agency (TUSLA).
As a Family Resource Centre, we are part of Ireland’s largest family support programme delivering universal and preventative services and supporting families and communities in achieving the following five National Outcomes:
Children, Families and the Broader Community are:
- Healthy, both physically and mentally
- Supported in active learning
- Safe from accidental and intentional harm / Secure in the immediate and wider physical environment
- Economically secure
- Part of positive networks of family, friends, neighbours and the community / Included and participating in society.
The Shannow Family Resource Centre opened its doors to the community in 2008. Since this date we have gone through significant change. Moving from a pre-development stage to where we are today has been an exciting, challenging and rewarding experience for both staff, volunteers and the Board of Management. The catchment area of Shannow FRC has expanded over the years from the original Kilflynn, Abbeydorney and Killahan areas incorporating the electoral division of Kilfeighny in 2012 and , at the request of our support agency, the electoral division of Lixnaw in 2016 .
Today Shannow FRC is a bright, welcoming, vibrant centre that offers a range of community development and family support programmes. Our Staff and Board of Management are committed to providing the best possible service to our community and value feedback from individuals and groups.
