In conjunction with the Kerry Education and Training Board, Shannow provides a wide variety of both community education and accredited training initiatives.

Community education programmes are, generally, run for between 4 and 8 weeks.  We run Communith Education courses on an array of topics

Autumn 2022 courses:

  • Gardening Course 15th September to 17th November from 11am to 1pm on Thursdays.
  • Christmas Craft starts 24th November to 15th December from 11am to 1pm on Thursdays
  • Art and Crafts for Adults with Intellectual disabilities, 11am to 1pm Fridays
  • Adult Sewing classes – starting Tuesday 11th October from 12 noon to 2pm for 8 weeks.  Cost €80

Spring 2023

 

  • Nutrition with Maxine Brown starting 17th January to 21st February 2022, Tuesdays from 1.30pm to 4pm.
  • Basketmaking starts 19th January to 23rd February, Thursdays from 11am to 1pm.

Accredited course are generally QQI accredited and are 16 weeks in duration, however we currently do not have any QQI classes in the Centre, watch this space for updates.

Adult Sewing

Adult Dressing Making Classes – as part of this class you will learn how to follow a pattern to make a garment.  You will then use a sewing machine to assemble it.

Tuesdays from 10am to 12noon Cost €80 for 8weeks.

Exercise

Yoga (Adults) – Mondays from 2pm to 3pm.
